★My Mental Health, Work, and Classes★The Week I Worked 42 Hours★

So, I wanted to type about this because I think that it is important that as human beings we know our limits, and do what is best for ourselves.

I was scheduled to work 42 hours one week, and that also happened to be the week that our classes for the Spring semester were starting. I did not think about telling my boss when classes started because she knew already or I thought she did since her daughter attends the same college as me. I agreed to work it anyways because I knew that our company was having a hard time finding someone to cover the shifts.  I don't regret doing the 42 hour week because I was testing my ability to handle it, and I did not think that it would be so bad since it was only the first 3 days of class.

I was wrong though, at the end of it all I  was tired, too tired to get any homework done. Not only that but I was getting overwhelmed with the work, and homework since the work schedule extended over the week. I worked 6 days straight, and I was going to do a 7th, but I spoke up, and said that I had already spoken with them about having that day off to recover.  I understand that there are people that can do this or are doing this on a regular basis but as humans we are all programmed differently, and have our limitations.

The moral of this post: Don't feel bad if you feel that you need time to recover. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses, as well as our limitations. To be honest, I felt completely overwhelmed which triggered feelings of missing my mother because I did not have her to call or to talk to. Thankfully, I had someone like a mother figure to call for advice. Always have coping mechanisms at you hands. Feel free to send me an email.


I am going to schedule to post regularly about every Saturday about my week since I only have work then, and if I have free time maybe on Wednesdays as well.
